The ornament is the finest of its type in the batch: a twelve-spoke ROSETTE or wheel inside a raised ring at the crown, then a band of two confronted VOLUTES with foliate tails, then a guilloche band, and only then the first two registers of the epitaph, which are clipped by the bottom edge of the frame.
